Zero Motorcycles, a California-based brand and maker of Electric Motorcycles (think big bikes) in partnership with Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc. (IMI), a global electronics manufacturing expert, inaugurated the first EV Motorcycle manufacturing assembly line in Laguna Technopark.
While Electric Vehicles are now coming into the Philippine Market, Electric Motorcycles have been around. But what we know as e-motorcycles roaming around at 10 to 20 kph in our neighborhoods are usually e-mobility vehicles with an optional canopy and grocery basket attached.
Zero Motorcycles produces and sells Electric Motorcycles aimed at Adventure and Touring Riders with one of their iconic first being an Electric Dirt Bike. Consequently, the Big E-Bikes on the assembly lines of IMI will be on par with milage and power of the industry rocking Electric Vehicles.
In support of this endeavor Greenstrum is providing EV Charging facilities for the verification and testing of these new Big E-Bikes.
The first E-Bikes that came into market had humble charging capabilities of 3.3kW, on par with the free EV Charging boxes that come with a new Electric Vehicle. Innovations in battery and charging technology are seeing E-Bike capabilities keep apace with 7kW charging and quite possibly up to 22kW charging in the future.
